As a qualified Mountaineering Instructor and member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors I teach all aspects of mountaineering including multi-pitch & sea-cliff climbing, scrambling, hillcraft and navigation. I am based on the North Coast of Cornwall with some amazing climbing right on the doorstep.

Initiation

Take your first steps onto rock, discover a passion for climbing, and develop good, safe habits from the very start of your mountaineering career. A one day course covering the basics including safe use of equipment, belaying, communication and fundamental climbing movement technique.

1 day £150 (one to one), £200 (one to two £100 each), £240 (one to three £80 each)

Transition

Loving climbing indoors but itching for more? This course is all about making the transition from the wall to the crags. So many of your skills are transferable but it is a bit of another world at first and can be a serious undertaking. I'll show you how to get the most out of your alfresco adventures focussing key extras you need to know, belay set ups, building top-up rigs, and becoming a competent second.

Progression

What are your climbing goals? Do you have a dream route in mind or do you want to push your grade? Combining technical knowledge and expert coaching I'll work with you to make it happen. Depending on your ambitions this might be indoors or out as this is all about getting you to where you want to be. We will start by assessing how you currently climb, establish the areas for improvement and begin to develop your talents leaving you with definite goals to work towards.

Digression

Ever wondered what you would do if something goes wrong? Could you get off your route if the weather suddenly changed or escape a sea-cliff if you bit off more than you could chew? Learning problem solving techniques can be invaluable when the chips are down but can also help you avoid getting into tricky situations to begin with. Hints & tricks through to advanced methods to stay safe and build self-sufficiency and confidence on your next route.
